personality

Kotomi is the type to keep her true emotions bottled up behind a stoic poker face, preferring to give snarky responses and noncommittal answers instead. Her cynicism towards humanity causes her to be very mistrustful of others and to maintain a keep away attitude towards everyone around her. She is clearly a goal-oriented and serious/focused type of person who makes it a priority to get things done no matter what methods it takes, even if it means striking down whatever stands in her way, which is why the type of people who seem to act carefree and never serious about anything can really piss her off.

Though underneath those many layers of protection, those who can earn her trust are privvy to a side of Kotomi without her armor on. The occasional rare smile and even rarer moments of truthful conversation can be seen by a rare few. In reality, if you cast aside her icy shell, she really can be quite nice and tends to have an urge to take care of things, so give her a chance to get to know you. If you can prove yourself, those who have Kotomi's trust have her undying loyalty and her willingness to do anything for them.

TL;DR version: _{Raised by an abusive mother and perverted stepfather, Kotomi had to learn to fend for herself since a young age. One day, she found the two things that would change her life-- a pair of old AT abandoned in a garbage can, which to her pleasant surprise, still seemed to work; and a girl two years younger than her named Hoshi, who would go on to become her best friend. When she was 16, she moved out of her house with the money she earned from her part-time job, and what she won from AT battles and tournaments, and never looked back.
Kotomi dropped out of school and let herself be consumed by work and the world of AT, quickly improving her skill level. In two years, Hoshi would move in with her, facing family problems of her own, and together they would spend their time with AT and making music. Up til now, she had a skill level of a rank C (maybe even B), though she held back and stayed in rank D to stay in the same bracket as Hoshi, but thinking that she needed to go higher to make their lives more comfortable, Kotomi decided to challenge a rank A rider. Needless to say-- she was thoroughly defeated and her ATs were busted. She stayed low for a while trying to recover from the shock of such a landslide defeat and concentrated on her normal work.
Eventually she recovered and Kotomi went to buy the best pair of AT she could afford in hopes of being able to win back parts needed to rebuild her own AT but with little luck. Hoshi, knowing how important it was to Kotomi to find the right parts again decided to look for a team in order to have a better chance at getting the parts necessary than for Kotomi to go for it solo, and by some happy circumstance, Hoshi and Midori met each other and pulled Dennis and Kotomi into creating a team together, soon to be known as Ace Deuce.}

Hoshi: The one person whom Kotomi trusts with her life, a childhood friend from a long time ago, she is the one who has kept Kotomi sane all these years. Having to take care of Hoshi after she moved in with Kotomi was what drove her on every day. She is very protective of Hoshi and will never forgive anyone who hurts Hoshi. It is due to her that Kotomi is involved with Ace Deuce. Best friend.

Dennis: A young, inexperienced rider whom Kotomi somehow got looped into a team with. Tends to not pay much attention to him whenever possible, but inexplicably finds herself drawn to watching him learn and occasionally teaching him more about the world of A.T. She thinks she is a naive fool, but despite his utter lack of experience, his persistence and optimistic ideals are important redeeming features in her eyes. Teammate.

Midori: A strange, mischievous little girl that can both earn Kotomi's respect and ire simultaneously. Kotomi considers her an odd but skilled rider, and finds it vexing that she talks all through text messages but doesn't care enough to ask why. Kotomi finds her 'older sister' instincts kicking in sometimes with this young girl-- especially in the presence of Dandy. Teammate.

Dandy: Another very skilled rider in the team whom Kotomi utterly- and- completely- dislikes. She trusts him about as far as she can throw him, and considering that he's about 7" taller, is not very far. She has respect for his ride, but his carefree attitude and overfamiliarity/lack of ability to understand personal space pisses her off like no other. Teammate. Does not want to accept him as one still though

Patrisha: Young, rash girl who seemed to have joined Ace Deuce because Kotomi was there. She disapproves of her flirtatious behavior and is somewhat uncomfortable with her overfamiliarity and clinginess. Despite that, she can see that Patrisha has potential and love for AT, and that is something that Kotomi can respect. Teammate.
